Exercises That You Can Track With Our Food Diary
There are two types of exercises: aerobic exercises and anaerobic exercises. You can record both in the food diary.
Aerobic exercises are the ones we use heart-lung and burned mostly fat. This is good for weight loss. Examples of aerobic exercises are
running, jogging, walking, bicycling, swimming. Any type of exercise which uses the large muscles of the legs, and causes you to deep breathe and continues for more than 20 minutes straight is aerobic exercise.
You can record aerobic exercise under the exercise section in our food diary. By clicking on exercise, add exercise, and selecting an aerobic exercise from the list. Our food diary lists about a hundred such exercises.
Aerobic exercise is best for weight loss and general health. It is a highly recommend.
Anaerobic exercise is exercise that brings mostly sugar, and uses less heart-lung action. Such exercise is not good for weight loss, and is generally less healthy. Example of anaerobic exercise is weightlifting, or sprinting really fast.
Our food diary is able to log anaerobic exercise as well. It is basically used to build muscle mass, shaped muscles, and look muscular. It is not highly recommended for weight loss.
Atkins Diet With A Food Diary?
Dear User,
Should you do the Atkins diet with our food diary? The answer is absolutely not. The Atkins diet is a very unhealthy diet.
While the food diary can carry the Atkins diet, I recommend that you do not touch the Atkins diet. The Atkins diet actually produces illnesses.
Stay away from any unbalanced diets including the Atkins diet. If you really set on doing the Atkins diet, you can use our food diary. But the bottom line is that away from Atkins diet is unhealthy.
I know of personal accounts of people getting illnesses of the liver, which cannot be cured. Don’t look for shortcuts. The are no shortcuts.
You need to eat well and exercise. This is the healthiest way to lose weight.
It is important to eat nutritionally. Maybe eat organic foods to help weight loss and healthier living. No strange diets.
Our food diary can handle any diet you wish to undertake. However it is recommended that you choose a healthy diet. And a healthy exercise regime. Read some books. Try reading the book, "ultimate fit or fat" by Covert Bailey.
Using Food Diary Reduces Your Body Fat Percentage
Dear User,
The food diary has a body fat percentage meter under the analysis menu. It can calculate, approximately, how much percentage of fact your body is based on some simple measurements.
Body fat percentage is a percent of fat your body is composed off. Normal body fat percentage is 22% for female and 15% from male.
Too low of a body fat percentage is not healthy either.
To reduce your body fat percentage, you need to increase muscle mass via exercise and lose fat via a diet. It has been found with a study of 1700 participants that using a food diary will double your weight loss. So you might want to use a food diary in your diet and exercise.
Losing weight in an incorrect way, will also reduce your body muscle mass, which is bad. Losing weight the right way, will increase muscle mass. Increasing muscle mass, and reducing fat tissue, will considerably reduce your body fat percentage.
Body fat percentage is most accurately measured in a water tank. Where your entire body is immersed under water. This is done in a special facility. Less accuracy but less expensive way is to use the calculator of body fat percentage included with the food diary.
Online Website or Desktop Software Food Diary?
Dear User,
There are two types of food diary. The first food diary is a desktop program. The second food diary is an online website.
The online website food diary is slow. With each function you use, you have to wait for the website page to refresh. This can be annoying.
Additionally, since website programming is in its infancy, it is difficult to create functionality. Therefore the food diary that is on the website is going to be less functional.
The upside of things is that the online food diary is accessible from everywhere around the world.
The desktop food diary is fast, complete, professional. This is because the desktop programming is advanced. So more functionality can be included easily– more easily than the website.
Desktop food diary is fast to work with. There is no need to wait for the page to refresh. The page refresh is instantaneous. Plus, a lot more functions are included in the desktop version. More graphs, more reports, more functions.
The downside of the food diary in a desktop version is that you have to transfer the files manually between computers you want to keep a diary at home and at the office.
Also, a website food diary may be slow due to high number of users. Desktop food diary is a always fast.
I personally recommend at desktop version.
We offer both a desktop version and a website. The website is free. But is only basic functionality of a food diary. The desktop version is affordable but an excellent choice.
The Best Food Diary
Dear User,
In my opinion the absolutely best food diary program on the market to day is the Food And Exercise Diary Software. You may think I am biased because I am the programmer of the software. But this is not true. I am a computer programmer for over 25 years, and I know when I see a good program being my own program, or some other companies’ program, in any field—not just a food diary software.
You are welcomed and encouraged to make your own research and find a good program according to your own standards. Today, I got a call from a customer who bought the program 2 1/2 years ago. We spoke for 3 hours. He repeatedly told me…
I don’t know you. I never met you. But you have helped by life in unbelievable ways. I have lost 80 pounds using your food diary software while following a diet and small exercise routine. I went from being a huge guy to a thin, muscle and attractive man. He continued to say, his name is Ian, that he researched everywhere and tried all the programs available and concluded that the Food And Exercise Diary is the best by far. He doesn’t even know, as he continued saying, if there is a close second to it at all.
Ian has been using the program for 2 years. We never made contact until he emailed me today. This is not an isolated case, I get emails like this on regular basis- most not in the range of 80 pounds weight loss.
Rick for instance, emailed me a week ago. Called on the phone before getting the program. Within 7 days of using the FEDiary he has diagnosed what is causing his constant headache over the last 5 years. His doctors told him it is stress. He has been suffering headaches that have gotten worst for the last few months. Finally decided to search for a solution, using the FEDiary, he narrowed down within about 1 week the foods that were causing the headaches.
This is possible because we have a medical diary in the Food And Exercise Diary, where you can log, among other things, your feelings. You can create custom feels, and put a check mark next to them when they occur on a certain day or hour of day. Using this, Rick within 1 week found a link between his Headaches and high carbohydrate foods.
I want to talk a little about what makes a good food diary software.
The best food diary program is composed of several factors. The program needs to be visually attractive. The food diary needs to be informative. Functionally powerful. Uncluttered. And easily understood.
The issue starts with style. Each user has his own style. You cannot write a food diary that everybody likes. In fact the same programmer could write several versions of the same food diary.
The screens of food diary are very difficult to design. It is difficult to put all the elements of visually together. What makes a food diary the best food diary is the way you enter foods into the diary, and what you can do with them once or entered.
The more ways that you can manipulate the food diary information in different reports, better for the user. It is quite a programming challenge to visually design all the elements. There are many elements of a food diary screen that needs to be designed together, and be visually attractive on the screen. I personally spent nine months on one screen. That’s the food explorer screen.
I suggest you click on Food Diary Program, read about the software, see the screenshots, download and order an unlock code.
Tracking Organic Foods In A Food Diary
Dear User,
Organic food is food that is grown naturally without additives and without chemicals. These foods are very nutritious, taste amazing, and are very healthy.
The downside is that they’re a bit more expensive than regular foods. In addition to doubling your weight loss by keeping a food diary, you should consider you can, if you can, organic foods.
From people I’ve spoken to it seems that natural weight loss occurs when eating organic foods. They are much healthier, and I understand the body radiates from happiness of consuming these foods.
Organic foods can found in special organic shops. In addition to logging in with the food diary, consider investigating and learning about organic foods.
I know of one case where person had many chronic infections in his lungs for many years. Requiring antibiotics every few months. Severe asthma.
After starting organic foods exclusively with vitamins and minerals supplements, the infections went away completely and asthma disappeared. For the last eight years this person has been as healthy as an ox due to organic foods. While before organic foods he was at the doctor every month.
I will not be surprised to find out that the cancer and all the illness we hear about these days are directly related to all the additives, and chemicals in our non-organic foods.
It is amazing the stories are I hear of people going organic with fantastic results. You may want to consider organic food and vitamin supplements in addition to logging your foods in the food diary, start exercising, and consider organic foods.
Keeping A Food And Exercise Diary
Dear User,
The answer is definitely yes. If you don’t have a physical disability stopping you from exercise, exercise is a wonderful weight-loss tool in addition to keeping a food diary. You should consider exercising for 30 minutes about four times a week. Start slowly. Exercise increases your metabolism. Metabolism is your body’s chemical and biological processes. It is like pressing the reset button on a computer. While it is true that keeping a food diary doubles your weight-loss as a study has found with 1700 participants. But these participants also exercised for 30 minutes everyday. If you’re older, starts very slowly to exercise. Use stationary bicycle or walk in on a treadmill. Do not lift weights. Exercise can be recorded in the food diary in the exercise section. You can record how much calories you want to exercise a day, with different exercise calories budget for each day. So in the food diary you can tell the software that you want to exercise 300 calories Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. And you can tell the food diary that Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday you want no exercise. The food diary shows you on the main diary of screen , which calories yet you have to exercise every day based on what you set in the exercise calories budget. Exercising is very natural. Driving a car is not natural. Our bodies are built to walk long distances everyday. The car has made a stop to that. We no longer walk, we drive everywhere. This is not good. This is not natural. Naturally the body expects exercise. And you should give it some moderate exercise a few times a week for the rest of your life. If you cannot exercise with your legs, consider exercising aerobically with your arms. If you’re in good health, don’t overdo it. You don’t have to be an athlete. You will find exercise will also increase your mental, psychological, spiritual well-being. If you do just right amount of exercise, it feels wonderful. If you do too much or too little, it doesn’t feel good. There is aerobic and anaerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise is exercise that uses mainly the heart and lungs such as walking and jogging slowly. Anaerobic exercise is like weightlifting or very intense running. Of the two, you should do aerobic exercising. If you want a good book on weight loss and fitness, try Covert Bailey’s books such as "Ultimate fit or fat". While the food diary is essential for weight loss, exercise is also. The two together will virtually guarantee weight loss if you use them correctly. After logging information in the food diary for a few weeks, if you see are not losing weight, considering lowering your caloric intake a little bit, and increasing exercise a little bit. Follow this formula every few weeks until you end up losing about 2 pounds a month or less. Don’t try to lose too much fat too fast, that’s not good for the body. It is important that at weight loss will be healthy and good.
Food Diary Predicting Calorie Intake
Dear User,
Should the food diary predict how many calories you should eat? The answer is absolutely no.
Software should not predict how much you should eat. This is because each person has its own unique physical and emotional complexities. The software may tell you to too much or too little and you can get into trouble.
The best thing you should do is visit the doctor or dietitian. If you have any illnesses such as diabetes or problems with your kidneys, or other illnesses, you have restrictions on food intake that the food diary cannot predict and should not. Only a doctor and a registered dietitian can guide you in your food intake choices and exercise choices.
In fact you do encounter a food diary that does predict how much you should eat or what you should eat, you better stay away as this is a sign that the software developer is not responsible.
One thing you can do is pick up a book on diet and nutrition and get to know the ins and outs of the die to need to follow. Then use our food diary to follow that. Still you should double-check with a dietitian as some diets are dangerous such as the Atkins diet.
One thing you should be aware of while selecting a diet that diets that promise incredibly fast weight loss results are false. You shouldn’t be losing weight fast. It should losing weight gradually. And it is also impossible to lose weight fast aside from losing water weight.
To conclude, no responsible food diary should tell you what to eat or how much to eat. Doing so could be dangerous to your health. You should read a book and visit the doctor or dietitian or both.
Challenges of Programming A Food Diary
Dear User,
By far, the most challenging programming task of a food diary is the user interface. A second most challenging task in programming a food diary is the sheer amount of work. It is not technically difficult programming making a food diary. It is a tremendous amount of work load to program it. There are many screens that needs to be programmed. Each screen has to be visually attractive. Easy-to-use. And powerful. It took nine months to fine tune the graphical interface of the food explorer. The third most challenging aspect of programming a food diary is the food database. They are tens of thousand of foods entered into the database. It’s not enough, on one hand, and too much, on the other hand. It is not enough because there are so many foods and combinations of foods that unless a person enters each ingredient, there is not enough foods in database. But then when we enter more foods into the food diary database, the database becomes huge an unusable. So it is either too big or too small. This is a long-standing problem with food diary. Personally, I still have not come up with a solution. I have spent months and months and months perfecting the food diary. There are something like 30 screens in the food diary. Each screen has to be beautiful and functional. That’s a difficult task. The sheer amount of work because of the number of screens is daunting. Another big problem is how to represent the food database to the user. The user wants quick access to the foods. But it appears that unless the user familiarize himself with the database, there is no way to achieve quick access. About 5% to 10% of the people who use the software don’t want take the time to learn database. Most people take the time to learn the database, and these are the most successful users. I would very much like to hear from users what functions they want in the software. It would be wonderful to hear from you about new features and new screen designs that you would like to see in the food diary.
